_______ RESTORATION OF THE JAPANESE GARDEN The renovation of the Japanese Garden is complete. Please click here to view a video of the opening ceremony that was created as a promotion by Nissan, one of the sponsors of the opening. An important part of this project has been the tremendous involvement by the Community. Young people and our visitors have been able to learn about the heritage of the garden and increase their understanding of Japanese culture. Harrogate Borough Council has been very supportive throughout, and we are very grateful to them. When this project was started in 2016, the area located just west of the boating pond, was barely recognizable as a Japanese Garden. This project has redesigned the Garden around an expanded stream/pond area to include features and plants of Japanese gardens. The Project was led by Ann Beeby and Liz Chidlow. The project was supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. If you would like to follow the progress of this project, please visit Ann’s Project Blog.
